Job description
Reporting to the Regional Fleet Manager the incumbent will be based in KSA, but will be required to travel within all the operational regions to undertake the duties as specified below.
Responsibilities will include but not exclusively the following:
Ensure the safety and integrity of vessels is maintained which includes fabric, equipment systems, procedures, operations and every aspect of vessel performance.
Management of the entire vessel, including but not limited to safety appliances, equipment, procedures, stores, spares, food, and living environment.
Attend vessels for the required number of defined Annual inspections and produce timely reports in line with Dept Operational Procedures.
Ensure that vessel integrity is maintained to include the systematic maintenance of all systems, plant and auxiliary equipment.
Maintain accurate records of all deficiencies and any repairs carried out, defining those deferred to dry-docking.
Compile dry-dock Work List and Tenders for timely submission to the Fleet Manager as required
Assist the Fleet Manager to formulate Application for Expenditures.
Determine most cost-effective means, undertake maintenance and repairs prior to commencement
Supervise and co-ordinate all repairs including dry-docking and insurance claim repairs and ensure that all work meets specifications
Approve purchases against previously agreed budgetary levels, up to the agreed limits of authority
Obtain stores and spare parts locally at the most competitive prices available
Complete comprehensive Vessel Inspection Reports in accordance with the Departments Operational Procedures.
Supervise sub-contractors staff as required
Provide cover for colleagues including vessel Chief Engineers, as and when required
Ensure the vessels are carrying out the required planned maintenance in accordance with the Departments Operational Procedures
Compile monthly Vessel Status Reports on repairs and performance against vessel budgets.
Liaise with Class surveyors attending vessels for Statutory surveys and maintain vessels to fully class standards
Maintain Company no-marine assets within budgeted levels
Investigate and report on all technical and non-technical accidents and incidents occurring on vessels and to recommend /implement close outs.
Ensure the vessels comply with local regulations and those defined in charter parties.
Arrange base passes as required to enable contractors or visitors from Head Office to attend the vessels.
Liaise closely with Charterer’s representatives to ensure smooth operation of the vessels.
Ensure overseas order requirements are cleared from customs as soon as possible and delivered to the respective vessels.
Liaise with local agents for travel arrangements for vessel crews.
Maintain at all times valid Chief Engineers Certificate of Competency as per STCW 95.
